sponsoring Business of the Year

The Express & Star is one of the UK’s biggest selling regional newspapers.

The brand is a long-established part of the community in the West Midlands and was founded in Wolverhampton way back in 1874.

As the brains behind the awards, it is important to not just focus on news, but to provide a platform for the best in business across the region.

The newspaper has been strongly championing local industry for many years and plays an important role in being the voice of the people in our business community.

The Express & Star, which is dedicated to making a difference, is once again sponsoring the prestigious Business of the Year category in its 2022 business awards.

The Business of the Year category has been selected because as a publishing platform the team highlight businesses in the Black Country and surrounding area and continually shine a spotlight on the trades.

There are a huge number of platforms to promote a business, including regular supplements, news pages, the dedicated weekly business section, website, social media and the annual awards themselves.

As well as the event at Wolverhampton Racecourse, construction, education and training have dedicated features and the Express & Star helps to promote the Black Country Chamber of Commerce’s growing annual business festival.

As a platform, the paper can encourage businesses and local community leaders to show support for local opportunities and raise issues at a national level.

Banging the drum for the businesses of all sizes in the region is hugely important to the Express & Star.

In 2021,despite the ongoing pandemic, the newspaper also helped to reactivate the Ladder for the Black Country campaign which is helping to promote apprenticeships and assisting businesses in finding key employees to help them grow.

The newspaper also raises the profile of many good causes, with the intention of helping its readers.

Print managing director Graeme Clifford said: “The Express & Star has been a huge support for local businesses across the region over many years and getting behind this category is just another way in which we can continue to do this.

“There are a range of important industries in the Black Country and it is important to celebrate the achievements and congratulate those who have worked hard in achieving success.”

Editor Martin Wright said: “The Express & Star’s annual business awards are very important to us.

“We originally launched them to celebrate all that is great about the companies in our circulation area.

“Singling out one of those as our Business of the Year enables us to showcase the very best that this area has to offer.”
