The Black Country & Marches Institute of Technology is a major new development based at the heart of the Black Country in Dudley, which opened for students in September.
The IoT offers a wide range of high quality technical education programmes with clear pathways to skilled jobs in the following transformational sectors:
Specialising in higher level technical education programmes and apprenticeships, the new employer-led institute brings together the training offer of Dudley College of Technology in collaboration with key partners including University of Wolverhampton, University of Worcester, In-Comm Training Services and Avensys UK. This means the IoT can offer non-traditional progression routes to degree level programmes that are flexible and allow learners to study whilst in work.
By providing industry-led training that is designed by employers with clear career progression routes to skilled jobs the institute is helping employers develop the work force they need for business success.
Built as one of only 12 Institutes of Technology nationally, the £22 million campus in Dudley was developed as part of the government’s £170m drive to develop higher-level skills across the UK, with £17.36m of funding secured for the institute through the Department for Education programme and a further £2m from the West Midlands Combined Authority.
